6 Tips for choosing a Newborn Photographer | Dayton Newborn Photographer | Captivations Photography

Hey Friends! Thanks for stopping by! If you are searching for a Dayton area newborn photographer there are SO many things to consider when finding the perfect match! Here are a few of my tips to be sure you are making the best choice possible! In no particular order ;)

  1. Style: Look over their portfolio on their website, Facebook, Instagram. Make sure that what you see is something you could see in your home. Does it fit your style? Are props your thing? Then a lifestyle photographer may not be your best choice. Also take a look at the over all feel of the images. Are you a fan of their editing style? This has a big impact on your final images. So be sure to thoroughly look through their images to get an idea of what their artistic style is and be sure it lines up with yours.
  2. Experience: Take a look at how long they have not only been a photographer/studio owner. But how long have they had specialized hands on experience with Newborns. Not all photographers are great with every genre of photography. Choosing someone who is specialized in the area of Newborn & Babies would be your best choice!
  3. Safety: THIS IS HUGE! Does your photographer have an assistant that will have eyes on baby 100% of the time? My sweet assistant Rachel's main goal during our newborn sessions are to keep baby safe and comfortable at ALL TIMES! Most newborn poses should NEVER be attempted without a trained assistant....EVER :)
  4. Services: Are you looking for someone who will provide you with your digital files to keep forever and print/save/share as you wish? Or are you looking for a more extensive service of an ordering session and purchasing your prints & products directly through your photographer? There is no right or wrong answer to this. It is certainly all your preference.
  5. Pricing: While good photography is not cheap and cheap photography is not good. You should consider the importance of this time. Are payment plans offered? You must consider that at this time there are TONS of people out there that claim to be a photographer. The QUALITY of the images speaks louder than anyones words. I highly suggest investing a little into your babe's session and getting a professional who will provide a safe evironment and gorgeous, quality images!
  6. Studio? Props provided?: Does this photographer have an actual Studio Space? Do they offer fully styled sessions? If you don't want to think, just want a gorgeous session with as little effort as possible on your end. I suggest choosing someone who has a studio full of props & outfits to fully style your little one's Newborn Session. Makes your life so much easier through those sleep deprived, cloudy, early days. :)

I hope you found this little blog post helpful! If you happened to answer yes to these questions then I can assure you, you and I would be a perfect match!
